A study showed that domestic tourists found it unsafe to walk on the beaches of Goa at night, but foreign tourists did not have the same concerns. The research is titled; Security Issues in Goa Tourism-Tourism Perspectives written by Dr Yasmin Shaikh of Goa and published in the latest issue of; Journal of International Research and Analysis Review. The research suggests the establishment of a police force. The troops are dedicated to instilling the confidence of female tourists and combating criminal activities against tourists from coastal countries in an all-around way. It is speculated that most tourists think it is safe to walk around the beach during the day. Domestic tourists think that the beach is unsafe at night, while international tourists think it is safe to be on the beach at night, the study said.
According to this study, 62.19% of domestic tourists believe that it is unsafe to spend the evening at Goa Beach. The study stated: “The formation of a night patrol police force composed of all women will instil confidence in female tourists and intervene in emergency situations.” Sheikh said the investigation involved interviews with 400 domestic and foreign tourists visiting Goa.
“When the environment is safe, the visitor is also safe. If the travel and tourism industry emphasises security, it will have a good chance of surviving,” the research paper said.
